Pelham Bay Park is larger than anything Manhattan can offer — salt marsh, oak woods, the lagoon reaching toward Hunter Island — and the neighborhoods tucked against it borrow all that green. Oasis Outdoor Services keeps the yards there up to it: regular mowing, edging, string trimming, hedge and shrub work, bed cleanups in spring and fall, debris taken off the property. Late May brings the best light of the year here, long and gold over the water at Orchard Beach. A lawn cut and edged on an evening like that looks like it belongs to the park.
