South of Lake Ontario the land lies down flat and the fruit belt takes over, so that for one week every May the orchard rows near Sweden turn white all at once and the air smells like the whole county is in bloom. Dream Landscape Designs works toward that kind of moment on a smaller scale — beds planned, plantings set, a dooryard given something to do in every month it can. Lawn care carries the middle of the year: mowing on a steady rotation, trimming, the cleanups at either end of the growing season. In late June the evening light comes in long and low across these fields, and a yard laid out with some thought will hold that light instead of merely receiving it.
