Tottenville is where the island simply runs out — Amboy Road ends, the bluff drops, and Raritan Bay takes over the view. Summers down here are long and bright, and the lawns hold a green that the bay wind keeps honest; winters come in wet and salted, and the same wind stacks snow against the south-facing steps. J&J Landscaping & Construction takes both halves of that year: mowing, edging and cleanups through the warm months, plowing and shoveling and salting when the storms track up the coast. The reward in July is a lawn cut level as a table; the reward in January is a driveway clear at daybreak. One address, two very different kinds of good morning.
