At three in the morning Victory Boulevard belongs to the plows. 980 Plow runs Bulls Head, New Springville and the side streets that feed them, pushing the storm off driveways and lots while the island is still dark and the streetlights wear halos. Plowing, shoveling, salting and sanding — and the return trip, because wind fills a driveway back in while you are two streets away. The reward comes later: a car pulling out at six without a second thought, the walk to the front door bare and gritted. That is the entire point of the night.
