About True North Hauling and Plowing LLC

On a clear January night the sky above Star Lake glitters so brightly that the hamlet's name stops sounding like poetry and starts sounding like plain description. Snow comes to this corner of the northwestern Adirondacks in heavy, patient loads, burying the woods along Route 3 and the old iron country around Benson Mines. True North Hauling and Plowing LLC pushes it back off driveways and dooryards, and hauls it away when the piles grow too tall to hold any more. The reward is a wide lane opened under the spruces, its turnaround clear for the truck and its edges pushed well back. In a place where winter is measured in feet and months, a plowed way out is the thread that ties every house to the rest of the world.
