Mount Utsayantha stands over Stamford like a patient sentry, and in winter it is often the earliest slope to turn white above the village rooftops. Below it, the West Branch of the Delaware River begins as a thin, cold thread, and snow drifts deep along streets of old resort houses with long, sheltering porches. D3 Outdoors LLC meets that snow head-on, opening driveways and walkways so a Catskill morning can begin on solid ground. There is real pride in a lane scraped clean to the gravel, its banks shaped neat and square beside the hedges. Up here at the headwaters, winter comes early and lingers late, and a cleared path to the road feels like the day handed back.
