Late June in Staatsburg is all shade and shine — big oaks over the lane, sun coming off the water down at Norrie Point, grass growing faster than anyone quite believes. Dave's Landscaping and Lawn Care spends those weeks moving yard to yard, mowing and trimming, keeping the green in order while summer does its best to run away with it. The reward comes on the last pass, when the stripes lie straight and the clippings are blown off the walk and the whole place looks like it has finally exhaled. Autumn drops leaves by the thousand off those same oaks, and they get gathered up too. It is plain work done carefully, on a stretch of the Hudson's east bank where people notice a tidy yard.
