About J&S Blue Collar Services

Four in the morning in Springville, a foot of new snow on the village streets and the creek running black underneath it — that is the shift. J&S Blue Collar Services works the storm end of winter here: plowing drives, shoveling walks, steps and mailbox aprons, digging out the ridge the county plow leaves behind, and salting the shaded stretches that glaze over before anyone is awake. The village sits where Cattaraugus Creek cuts through, and the cold that settles along that water turns the last of the melt into a sheet by five. The whole job is measured in other people's mornings: a car out of the drive without a shovel, a walk you can carry groceries across. By the time the school buses run, the work is already an hour ahead of them.
