There is a week near the end of October in Spencerport when the mowers come off the trailers for the last time and the plows go on, and the whole year turns over in a single afternoon. Upstate Lawn Inc lives on both sides of that week. The green half is mowing, trimming, edging and the cleanups that open and close the growing months. The white half is plowing drives, clearing walkways and salting the spots that glaze first, storm after storm, out along the flat roads west of the village.
