DeRosa Earthworks

About DeRosa Earthworks

Snow in Skaneateles has a habit of arriving well after midnight, quiet and steady, filling in the creek corridor that runs north from the village toward the mill hamlet of Mottville. DeRosa Earthworks is out in it — headlights full of falling flakes, blade down, working while the rest of the town is still asleep. Snow removal is the whole of what happens here, which means the work gets measured by exactly one thing: whether the drive is open when the door opens. Nothing about a winter morning is improved by shoveling it, so that part gets taken off your hands. By the time the sky goes gray above the hills, the pavement is dark and wet and the day can simply start.
