Lake Ontario writes Scriba's winters. A squall builds out over open water, comes ashore east of Oswego, and lays down a foot of snow while the coffee cools. Lakeside Landscapes answers it with plow, shovel and salt — driveways opened, walks cleared, the same route run again when the band swings back around. Then June arrives off that same lake, cool and bright, and the work becomes mowing, trimming, edging and cleanups on grass that grows thick in all that moisture. There is a particular satisfaction in a drive cut clean to the pavement at daybreak, and in a lawn striped straight down to the road in July.
