Dan Sprung's Lawn Care

About Dan Sprung's Lawn Care

Winter mornings in Scio begin in the dark, with the Genesee running black between snowy banks and the plows out ahead of the first bus. Dan Sprung's Lawn Care clears driveways, farm lanes and walkways through the Allegany County snow, then trades the blade for the mower once the valley greens up. Spring runoff leaves the river flats soft and fast-growing, and summer turns into weekly mowing, trimming and edging up and down Route 19. Autumn is rake-and-haul work, leaves off the grass before the ground goes hard. What holds the whole year together is simple and satisfying — a drive opened wide enough to back out of at six in the morning, a yard cut even by suppertime.
