Schroon Lake holds the mountains upside down on a still morning, Pharaoh's shoulder off to the east and white pine standing dark all the way down to the water. Adirondack yards are carved out of that forest, and the forest keeps trying to take them back — a birch leaning on the boathouse, a stump left from last winter squatting where the lawn ought to be. RPM Stump Grinding drops the tree, trims the neighbors that need it, and grinds the stump below grade so the ground can be raked and seeded. Come July there is nothing left to show but grass.
