August in Saratoga Springs belongs to Union Avenue — the elms, the deep shade, the traffic easing toward the track. All pro lawn care spends those mornings on the lawns behind those trees, mowing early while the dew is still down and the heat has not yet arrived. Edges get cut, beds get trimmed back, and the clippings leave with the crew instead of drifting onto the sidewalk. Come October the same yards are raked out; come April they are opened up again, thatch and grit and winter sand hauled away. A tidy lawn on a street like that becomes part of the street itself.
