Late September turns Mount Baker above the village into a wall of red and orange, and for about two weeks Saranac Lake is unreasonably lovely to look at. Wesley Moody Landscaping is busy underneath all that color — final cuts, leaves cleared off the turf, yards put to bed ahead of the first hard freeze. Through the warm months it is steady mowing, trimming, and edging along paths and beds. A lawn raked out clean in October, with the maples bare and the light gone thin, holds a settled look all the way to spring. Saranac Lake, Lake Placid and the towns around them are covered.
