Sanborn keeps two calendars. From May onward the grass runs hard, and Star Landscape And Development is out mowing, trimming, edging and carrying off clippings, with cleanups on either end of the green months. Then the wind turns, the lake takes over, and the same trucks are plowing driveways, opening walks and salting the places where ice builds. A short drive east the Erie Canal locks at Lockport skin over and go still, and that is about when the blades go back on. Whatever the month, the result looks the same from the street: an open drive, a tidy yard, nothing left half done. Sanborn, Pendleton, Lockport and the towns between them are served all year.
