Salina took its name from salt springs, and there is still something bracing about a town that grew up out of brine and marsh at the head of Onondaga Lake. Alexander Lawn & Landscape LLC works both ends of the year here: mowing and landscape upkeep once the lake edge goes green, plowing and clearing once the storms come down the valley. A February morning starts long before there is any traffic on the Parkway, headlights swinging across a driveway that will be open and dark-paved by the time the coffee is poured inside. In June the same properties get the treatment that shows from the sidewalk, even passes across the grass and a line cut true along the walk. It is work you mostly notice by how easy your own morning turns out.
