About Fresh Spaces

On an August evening in Salamanca the river bottom cools first, and a low mist starts up off the Allegheny while the hillsides are still holding the day's heat. That is a good hour to finish a lawn — the last pass mowed, the trimmer stowed, the walks blown clean, fireflies lifting out of the cut grass. Fresh Spaces works the yards on the river flats and up the side streets, mowing on schedule, edging where lawn meets pavement, keeping the lines honest. Cleanups come in spring and again in fall, when the season's leavings get raked out and carted off for good. A yard that has been looked after has a look to it, and in a small city people notice.
