Lake Erie sends its snow southeast in long gray bands, and Salamanca sits right where they come ashore over the hills — a foot can arrive between supper and sunrise without much warning. Dr Green Lawn meets it with plow and spreader, opening driveways and lots along Broad Street and the roads that climb out of the valley, then salting so the next melt-and-freeze does not undo the night's work. Summer is the opposite and just as demanding: the flats along the Allegheny grow grass fast and deep green, and mowing, trimming and edging keep a weekly beat. Fall cleanups clear the hardwood leaf drop before the first serious cold sets in. Two seasons, two sets of tools, one clean result either way.
