Rosendale sits on the old cement rock, and the mines under its hills breathe cold air out of the ground the year round — a fitting address for a snow outfit. Arctic Adventures clears whatever winter drops on the town: plowing drives and lots, opening a path to the door and the mailbox, treating the slick patches where meltwater refreezes overnight. Storms here often begin as rain in the valley and turn over as the temperature falls off the ridge, so timing matters more than muscle. Going out mid-storm and again at the tail keeps the pack from setting hard onto the blacktop. When it clears and the light comes up blue over the limestone bluffs, the pavement is dark and the banks are stacked back where they belong.
