Rome answers to Copper City, and there is something fitting in a name that matches the color a maple takes in late October. Copper City Lawn & Snow works both halves of the year here: the summer route of mowing and trimming, and the winter one of pushing a driveway open before the workday starts. Dusk in November is the seam between them — mowers put away, blades hung, salt staged, everybody watching the western sky. The two jobs look nothing alike, but they come out at the same place: a property you can walk across and pull into. Green in July, bare pavement in January.
