Culver Road at two in the morning during a February band: streetlights in a halo, amber flashers bouncing off storefront glass, nobody out but the people whose job is snow. D&J Plowing runs those hours — driveways and lots cleared, walks and steps shoveled, salt down before the temperature drops and locks everything in place. Two initials on the truck and a route to finish; the shift ends when the last property is open. Rochester delivers its winter in installments, and the crews are there for every one of them.
