About Saratoga Greens Co.

South of Queensbury the sand plains run down toward Moreau and Wilton in a long shelf of pine and open ground, and the lawns along that stretch bake hard by the middle of July. Saratoga Greens Co. mows and tends turf across that country, setting the cut high through the hot weeks so the grass keeps its own shade and comes back green after a rain instead of after a month. The routine is unglamorous and it works: consistent height, clean edges, nothing left behind on the pavement. There's a plain pride in pulling away from a lawn that looks better than it did an hour ago and will still look that way on Friday. At either end of the year the beds and the leaves get cleared, and the ground is handed over to the next season in good order.
