About RadishSpiritGardens

A radish is the first thing a garden gives back, and the name fits a lawn service that works the small green interiors of Sunnyside — the shared courtyards off Skillman Avenue, the strips of grass behind brick rows, the front squares no bigger than a kitchen table. In April, when the light finally clears the rooftops before eight, RadishSpiritGardens is out with the mower and the string trimmer, waking the turf up an inch at a time. Cleanups come first: winter's grit raked off, beds edged back, the first cuttings carried away. Then mowing on a rhythm, overseeding where the shade has thinned things, mulch banked neatly around the young street trees. By June the little yards are dense and even, and they hold the whole block's summer inside them.
