Zaldivar's Lawn care inc. runs the full year in Putnam Valley: mowers on the trailer from April, trimming and edging finishing each yard before the crew moves on, cleanups bracketing the growing season at both ends. When the cold sets in, the same trucks carry a plow, and the mornings are spent opening driveways, clearing walks and putting salt where meltwater collects at the bottom of a grade. There is a plain pride in the handoff — the last leaf hauled off in November, the first driveway cut open in December. The ground is the same; only the tools change.
