Late November in the hemlock ravines above Putnam Valley is a held breath — the mowing is finished, the leaves are down, and the first plowable snow is somewhere out over Pennsylvania with a date already picked. Piano Mountain Maintenance Inc uses that pause to close properties out: the final cut, the last cleanup, the driveway markers set where the plow will need them. Then the season turns and the work becomes clearing — driveways opened, walks scraped, salt down on the north-facing pitches that never thaw. Come spring the order reverses, cleanup first and mowing after, trimming and edging bringing the yard back to a proper line. Two kinds of work, one long continuous relationship with the same piece of ground.
