The old railroad bridge stands high over the water now, people walking where the freight used to run, and from up there the valley looks like exactly what it is — a place that works. Hudson Valley Lawn Works keeps its share of it: mowing, edging, trimming, mulching and cleanups through the growing months, then plowing, shoveling and salting once the cold sets in. Two seasons, two sets of tools, the same trucks and the same list of addresses. There is pride in a lawn finished sharp in August and equal pride in a driveway opened before the school bus comes in January. The valley asks for both, so both get done.
