Late on a snowy night the marquee light on Westchester Avenue turns the flakes gold and the village goes as quiet as it ever gets. Raul Martinez Landscaping LLC is out in it — driveways plowed, walks and steps cleared, entrances opened while the street is still empty. Come the green half of the year the same trucks carry mowers, and the work is cutting, string trimming, edging along walks and drives, and the cleanups that pull leaves out of Port Chester's tight backyards. Two kinds of night, two kinds of morning, one village that has to be ready either way. Doing it well is its own reward, and the streets show it.
