About Prentice Enterprises

Pitcher is Chenango County hill country, a scatter of farms and back roads draped over ridges where winter comes early and lingers. A big storm crossing these uplands can bury a driveway overnight and lay drifts over the dirt roads in long, scalloped waves. Prentice Enterprises does snow removal here, plowing out drives and clearing ground so households up on the ridges can get down to the paved road. Opening a steep hill drive in the dark, headlights sweeping over empty white pasture, is a craft all its own. Once the sun clears the hills, the plowed track shows dark and clean through the snow, a line drawn straight from the door to everywhere else.
