By mid-July the flat ground north of the canal bakes, and lawns start telling the truth about how they have been cut all year. TURF GENERAL raises the blade for the heat, mows early while the dew is still down, trims and edges clean, and leaves the grass long enough to shade its own roots through a dry spell. Turf is a crop like anything else grown around here; it just happens to grow in front of a house. Tend it that way and it comes through August green while the block goes straw-colored. Add the spring and fall cleanups and that is a full year of a lawn properly looked after.
