Saturday morning on the Highland Avenue side of town: hedges squared, walks swept, somebody's radio coming through a screen door. Louis's Landscaping keeps that picture going — mowing yards on a set schedule, trimming tight along fences, steps and beds, cutting a clean edge where lawn meets concrete, and hauling the debris off so nothing is left behind but the shape of the work. Spring cleanups open the beds up; fall cleanups put them back to bed. Peekskill's older streets were laid out with front lawns meant to be looked at, and they still hold up when somebody keeps them. A tidy yard is a kind of good manners toward the street.
