The Michael Ciaiola Conservation Area holds meadow and woods on the town's east side, and in September its grass turns gold at just about the hour the light does. Simmons Lawn Care & Landscaping keeps the yards on the other side of that line — mowing, edging, trimming, clearing beds, and doing the autumn raking that sends a lawn into the cold looking cared for. Late-season cuts are the ones that really show: cool nights, slow growth, and a stripe that stays put for a week at a time. Patterson turf grows over stony ground and old pasture, so evenness is earned rather than handed out. Earning it anyway is most of the reason to do this work.
