Downstream of the village the Susquehanna splits around Hiawatha Island, and on a July evening the whole valley smells like cut grass and warm water. Rico's Landscaping keeps Owego lawns on that rhythm all season — mowing, string trimming around trees and fences, edging drives and walkways, and clearing the yard out when spring opens it and again when fall closes it down. A good cut is mostly patience: the right height for the heat, a sharp blade, and the same lines walked each week until the lawn learns them. Trimming is where a yard is won or lost, in the six inches nobody thinks about until it has gone shaggy. Done right, a lawn simply looks quiet — and quiet, in a river town in midsummer, is the entire point.
