Saturday morning on Croton Avenue is the sound of Ossining getting going — shutters up, sidewalks swept, somebody's mower starting two streets over. La Teja Contractors & Landscaping Inc. is part of that noise most weekends, moving lawn to lawn with mowing, trimming, edging and mulch. Around here the yards are modest and close together, which means the work is judged from the sidewalk by anyone walking past. Twice a year the bigger clearing happens, opening the beds in spring and stripping the yard back down in fall. From the village streets outward to the towns around it, the route stays close to home.
