The Sing Sing Kill runs through the middle of Ossining in a gorge you can walk above on a boardwalk, water talking to itself under the double arch of the old bridge. Yards near that ravine are damp, mossy at the edges, quick to green up in May and quick to go wild. J & C Masonry & Landscaping keeps them in order — mowing, edging where lawn meets stone and path, trimming the growth back from the borders, mulching the beds. There is something satisfying about a neat lawn a few dozen feet from running water, order set right next to something that refuses it. The work carries through Ossining and the villages nearby.
