MR. Snow Blower

About MR. Snow Blower

Out by Stone Mills the fields run open to the fencerows, and when it blows across those flats the snow does not so much fall as travel. MR. Snow Blower handles that end of things in Orleans — driveways and lanes cleared, walks and steps opened, the hard-packed shelf at the foot of a drive taken down after the county plow has gone through. A blower throws banks back rather than stacking them at the edge of the pavement, which starts to matter by February when there is nowhere left to put anything. Ten below with the stars out is a good time to work, the machine steady and the drive coming clean a foot at a time. The porch light goes off behind you, and somebody's morning is an easy one.
