Orchard Park earned its name honestly — fruit trees stood in rows here before the street signs did — and in April a few of the older yards still throw blossom over a fence line. Arbor Lawns starts its year in that week, when the ground firms up and one afternoon of mowing turns a winter-gray lawn back to green. From there it is mowing, edging, trimming and seasonal cleanups, week after week, straight through the long light of summer. The part worth doing slowly is the edge along a walk: a single clean line that makes an ordinary yard look tended from the road. Around the village and out toward Elma, Hamburg and East Aurora, that line is the signature.
