The hills above Nunda catch weather early, and Keshequa Creek runs cold through the village toward the gorge country at the southern end of Letchworth. Pat clears snow through Nunda and the farms around it — plowing driveways and lanes, cleaning up around doors and steps, opening the way back out to the county road. Up here a night's fall can be six inches in the valley and a foot on the ridge, so the route is judged by elevation as much as by the hour. There is something to watching headlights sweep a long farm lane and finding it open and bare behind the blade. First one out, last one in, and by breakfast the village is moving.
