Perfect Seal 716

About Perfect Seal 716

Four in the morning on Hyde Park Boulevard, and the plow lights are the only color on the street. Perfect Seal 716 works the hours nobody sees, clearing driveways and lots across Niagara Falls while the wind comes up off the escarpment and rearranges everything it can reach. Snow here doesn't fall so much as arrive in freight — a foot of it stacked against a garage door while the house is still dark. The work is plowing, shoveling and salting: a blade laid down clean to the pavement, walkways cut wide enough for two people to pass, edges squared so the next storm has less to hold onto. What's left behind is a black driveway with white walls on either side, and a truck already three streets over.
