Tome's plowing service

About Tome's plowing service

Snow means something else on the Newfield hills, where a road can climb a few hundred feet between one mailbox and the next and the wind off Connecticut Hill quietly fills the cut back in behind you. Tome's plowing service runs those grades at night — driveways opened, turnarounds pushed wide, walkways cleared so nobody has to wade out to a cold truck at six in the morning. Steep gravel takes a lighter hand than a village lot, and knowing the difference is most of the job here. There is a stillness on those roads at two a.m. that is worth the alarm clock. Come daylight, the hill is passable, and that is the entire point.
