About Montebellocorp
Sleet has a sound of its own on a Rockland roof, and it usually means the storm has swung around cold from the north over Low Tor. Montebellocorp works those nights in New City — plowing, opening walkways, spreading salt across the slick layer sleet leaves under an inch of powder. Aprons and residential drives freeze at the seams first, and that is exactly where a second pass earns its keep. Watching a lot go from white to black under the lights, knowing the morning will be uneventful, is the plain pleasure of the job. New City and the Rockland hamlets beside it, right through the winter.
