About Howling Tree LLC

The wind that runs the Unadilla valley after dark has a voice of its own, and Howling Tree LLC is out in it, headlights swinging across New Berlin driveways while the village is still asleep. Snow gathers first on the hill roads above town, then works its way down into the flats along the river, and both get the same attention: plowed wide, corners squared, walkways opened to bare pavement. There is a particular satisfaction in a driveway finished before the coffee is poured — no shovel by the door, no wondering whether the car will make the road. Salt and sand go down where the grade turns slick, because a Chenango County hill does not forgive a skipped pass. By sunrise the snow is stacked out of the way and the day can simply begin.
