Winter arrives in Mohawk down the whole length of the valley, and by two in the morning Route 5S is a white ribbon with the canal somewhere out in the dark beside it. Kubecka's Lawns and Landscaping LLC is awake for that, plowing driveways and clearing walks so the first cup of coffee in a warm kitchen looks out on bare pavement. Come April the same trucks trade blades for mowers, and the village blocks around Steuben Street get their first cut of the year. Mowing, edging, trimming, cleanups — the work changes shape but the care doesn't. A yard here should look tended in July and a driveway should look plowed in January, and both are worth doing right.
