The first cut of the year in Massena always comes later than anyone wants — the frost has to leave, the ground has to firm up, and then all at once the village streets go green beneath the maples. DPMR opens its season right there: mowing, string trimming, edging along walks and drives, and the spring cleanup that clears months of grit, broken branch and matted leaf. From May to October the route runs weekly, because grass on the St. Lawrence flats grows hard and fast while it has the chance. Autumn closes the way the year opened, with rakes and blowers and leaves gone before snow arrives to sit on them. A well-kept lawn on a street like this is a way of saying the house is lived in and looked after.
