By mid-October the wind comes over the ridge west of Marlborough and strips the maples in a weekend, and half the town's yards vanish under leaves overnight. JTG Landscaping meets that turn with cleanups, mowing right through to the last cut, trimming, edging and the hauling that follows a hard blow. It is honest work: rake, blow, gather, load, then stand back at a lawn that looks like October never happened to it. The orchard country empties out slowly after harvest, the light goes long and low across the hills toward the Hudson, and a bare, tidy yard holds that light beautifully. Marlboro, Milton, Lattintown, Plattekill and neighbors toward Newburgh all get their turn before the ground hardens.
