Walkers on the Erie Canalway Trail set their mornings by the sound of a mower starting up somewhere past the treeline. Grass Werks cuts, trims and keeps up lawns through the Macedon summer, and when the towpath goes white it moves to plowing driveways and clearing walks. The canal freezes flat and gray; the yards beside it still need a path to the door. Both jobs come down to the same habit — showing up while the work is still easy to do well. Macedon and its neighboring towns are the ground covered.
