Long Beach keeps two calendars. In July it is mowing and edging along Park Avenue, trimming the strips between sidewalk and street, hauling cuttings out of yards the size of a parlor rug. In February it is plowing, shoveling the walks down to bare concrete, and salting the shaded side of a house where a coastal storm left ice that will not quit on its own. Belleza Bros Landscaping works both — the same streets in two different lights, one crew's year told twice over. Whichever calendar is running, the mark of the work is the same: a property that looks tended and moves the way it should.
