Little Falls is built on a slant — the Mohawk cutting through dolomite, Moss Island standing over the lock, and streets that climb straight up from Canal Place. Rock City Services works both halves of the year in that terrain: mowing, trimming, edging and seasonal cleanups in the warm months, then plowing, walkway clearing and ice control once the gorge starts throwing wind. A hillside driveway in January is a serious piece of ground, and it gets cleared with that in mind. In summer the same lots want a tidy edge where lawn meets old stone retaining wall. The river keeps running under all of it, loud in spring, black and steaming in winter.
