About Phoenix Enterprises

Storms come into Sullivan County over the western hills and drop everything they carry on the high ground around Liberty — a foot overnight is ordinary winter business here, not an event. Phoenix Enterprises works those nights and the mornings after: plowing driveways and lots down to the surface, opening turnarounds, clearing walks and steps, and spreading salt or sand where grade and shade would otherwise hold ice all day. Along Route 52 the wind reloads a drive nearly as fast as you can clear it, so one storm often means going around a second and a third time. The pleasure in it is narrow and complete — a black driveway at daybreak, a car that gets out, a day that starts on time. That is all of it, and it is enough.
