Walnut Mountain stands over Liberty with its trails and its old tower, and from the yards on that side of town the whole Sullivan County ridgeline goes blue at dusk. Brother's V&A Landscaping LLC keeps those properties mown and trimmed all summer, cutting in the edges along drives and walks and taking the leaves off in fall when the mountain lets go of them. At this elevation winter is not a brief visit — it arrives from the west and stays — so drives get opened, walks get shoveled, and salt goes onto the steep spots where a car would otherwise slide. Working a hill town means everything is slanted, and doing it well means nobody has to think about it. That is the aim in June and in January alike.
